4 Simple Steps For Guys To Prevent Premature Aging
BY Jen Auh
Aging can make you look serious and dignified. Some fine lines here and there can bring animation and character to your face. But, when it happens too much too fast, it can be a sign of stress, and nobody likes to look older than they are. Nobody wants to look their age, period!
Premature aging can be easily reversed with some medical intervention, but that should be a last resort. Before you do that, there are some lifestyle changes you should consider making first.
In this article, I’ll discuss ways to prevent premature aging in your skin as a man.
GET SUN PROTECTION
While women tend to learn about sunscreens early and make them a part of their beauty regimen, men don’t consider using them until there’s a visible or severe burn. You should break this trend.
Even if you don’t ‘get burnt easily,’ the sun contains harmful ultraviolet rays that can damage your skin and lead to premature aging and wrinkles.
Wearing extra clothes and hats will prevent UV rays from reaching those parts you can’t get with your sunscreen. It will also provide additional protection.
USE A RETINOID
Retinoids are gotten from vitamin A, and they’ve proven to be one of the most popular skincare ingredients to prevent aging. They make the skin plump by increasing the production of collagen. They also help create new blood vessels and promote skin regeneration, which gives the skin a youthful and healthy appearance.
There are different types of retinoids. While you can only get some in creams and gels, others are available on a prescription alone.
MOISTURIZE AND STAY HYDRATED
Moisturizers with Vitamin C and Hyaluronic acid have been known to prevent wrinkles and slow their formation in people that already have them.
As great as moisturizers are for your skin, you still need to drink water to support your bodily functions. Water is responsible for regulating your temperature, flushing out toxins, improving digestion, and keeping your skin healthy from the inside.
Water keeps the skin hydrated from the inside the same way moisturizers keep it hydrated from the outside.
DON’T SMOKE
Apart from systematically destroying your lungs, tobacco smoke is terrible for elastin and collagen formation and retention in the body. These two fibers are responsible for giving your skin strength and elasticity. In short, they are the reason why some skins look young, and others have wrinkles.
Also, cigarettes contain nicotine, making your blood vessels constrict and drastically reducing the flow of blood to your skin.
Consider reducing how much you smoke or quitting to improve your skin health.
